My set was crazy, we even dropped the NightLife Remix with me on it.

Def Sound blew everything out of the water with his performance.

This dude named Mic Holden is one of the greatest underground talents I’ve met thus far.

and the band that Cashmere had was amazing. 

Then everyone went to Stephanie P’s house. . . so many drunk people.

i.e: Jay-z put on Memphis Bleek when he featured him on two tracks.

Young Jezzy put on for his city.

It seems now-a-days that people out here are just trying to get “put on”. I’m not pointing fingers because I am even guilty of this. Maybe if record companies weren’t signing people just because they got “put on” then it wouldn’t be an issue.  It seems to me as a journalist, people constantly want me to put them on and hype them up so that they seem like some one everybody should listen too. And when I don’t like their music, then what can I do? Now they could either: A) Step they rap game up, 2) Relize that was the best they could do so maybe rapping is not an opition, or C) Call me a hater.

I don’t hate, sometimes I wonder why unsigned artist get more attention than others (or more attention than me) and I get disappointed but I never hate. And it’s always funny to see how an artist reacts when you compare their grind or position to another artist. If they are smart then they will plead the 5th, and say something like “I am just focused on my career right now”. If they are bold enough, they will give their solid opinion and say what they want about the compared emcee. Now with me being a exposed to so much talent or coping of that talent, I have to decide if I have what it takes to go against these people or just sit back and support them.

My solution over the past years has be to try to work with them because if they are true artist then they would want to share idea’s and be inspired. Now if a lot of people like one particular song and they become popular over that then that shouldn’t change anything, cause again its what the people choose. But, like my homie Def told me the other night, there is a trillion people trying to get through that door way, only the people who are unique and stand out the most are going to make it. 

So ask yourself rappers, are you just trying to make it? And then ask yourself, Why?

I realized that most people that I play songs for are never really moved by the content. They either get lost in the beat and start dancing to it, these are hip hop tracks by the way or if they are rappers the will start rapping to it out of nowhere and it really disappoints me because they miss the whole point of the song, the verse!

When writing my songs, I picture myself as a chef, taking time and skill to make everything perfect, side , presentation, taste and everything. So when people treat it like it’s a value meal that you could just buy anywhere . . . you feel?

I just randomly thought about this right now, I got a song with my homie Three-One-Zero on his “99 Lakers LP” (which has grown to be very successful, mad props – google it!) called Glen Rice. My verse went like this:

‘Now what you hear in the back-drop’/ helps make the song hot/ can’t win the game without these thats a long shot,/ From half court here’s the buzzer beater, steppin up my game again, it must be the sneakers/ and with five lines I’m Undefeated/ immigrated to the game from oversee’in (over sea)/ Peoples services who were no longer need/ took ya spotlight now cool off if ya heated/ cause I keep the fire no butane/ for niggas who be coming outta pocket like loose change/ or nosy (nose – y) as tucans/ thats why I gotta kick more than Lou Kang/ and walk like everyday is a new stage/ now p-p-put this in ya Ipod/ ol boy lookin crisp in the high tops/ you prodigy’s get hit like I’m Saigon/ bygone’s be bygone’s or BYE, GONE.

now if you didn’t get that the first time lemme explain:

From half court here’s the buzzer beater, steppin up my game again, it must be the sneakers/ and with five lines I’m Undefeated/ So with that I still have enough to win it by a long shot and i’m stepping my game up “it must be the sneakers” and with five lines Im Undefeated (Undefeated is a sneaker boutique and their logo is five tally marks, it was also the 6th line in the verse, meaning I can beat MC’s with only five lines)

You know how loose change just be slippin out your pocket and tucans are those birds with long noses (ie nosy, corny I know but who cares)

thats why I gotta kick more than Lou Kang/ and walk like everyday is a new stage/ Lou Kang is a character from the Mortal Kombat video game and well he kicks a lot (I wrote that before the Lil Wayne Dey Know verse btw) so I have to kick my rhymes like him and go everywhere like I’m ready to perform.

you prodigy’s get hit like I’m Saigon/ bygone’s be bygone’s or BYE, GONE. I was refering to the time last last year when New York rapper Saigon socked Prodigy from Mobb Deep, but a prodigy is also a young person with extreme talent meaning that I’m throwing blows at these young cats around me who think they got more talent, Gone! I couldn’t have ended it any better!

So with all that i say, if you’re not going to respect my craft and take time to sit down and enjoy something that I put my whole talent into then just don’t listen to me and say “nerd, I don’t like listening to your music.” So I don’t have to waste my time sharing it with you, go listen to your beats and sing-a-long lyrics if that’s all you can accept because I passed that stage like when I stopped watching Barney.

Personaly I don’t like the sound system at the Knitting Factory but I think the crowd heard me good enough.

I opened with “Give it to Me” which I really need some feedback on because I’m skepitc about the song as a whole. Then I went into a song that I going on Belvi’s album titled “You got it, good” and then he sung the hook to my new song “Past This”.

After that I spit some more songs from the mixtape: “Hello”, “Black Mags” (with freestyle), and an emo performance of “Just Mite”. Then I closed with another song that I’m still working out so I can’t give the title right now.

Its looking really serious right now and if you not apart of the equation then don’t expect to be the sum!
