 This was the first posted CD review on URB.com, I didn’t really understand the CD ’cause I don’t listen to “B’more Gutter” music. But hey thats what you get working at URB

Aaron LaCrate & Debonair Samir :: Wow That’s What I Call Gutter Music, Volume 1

Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir didn’t invent the remix but they traveled to a parallel universe and came back with a sound that Vulcans must be partying too. The Baltimore native’s album Wow That’s What I Call Gutter Music, Volume 1 cleverly references your little sister’s favorite “top 40” compilation CD. This mix, however, is strictly for the clubs. Every beat gets you hoppin’ and poppin’ with climactic bass lines and hyper speed synthesizers. Their signature chopped and looped hooks are accompanied by rap group Dirty Hartz, whose flow perfectly matches the tempo of the production, like on the first track “Welcome 2 B-More” or “That’s the Doo Doo.” LaCrate and Samir drop sick remixes to “U and Dat” by E-40 featuring T-pain and Juelz Santana and “Sa Na,” which has a sample of Jacko’s “P.Y.T.” You’ll have to get your mind in the seriously dirty while listening to “Supahead” featuring Amanda Blank and “Pssy Mind” starring a sexually stimulated Verb. All 11 tracks are impossible to hold still to, so if you need to get the party started then put this in your mix. It may be gutter but it’s oh so clean.

 Since it was another cold and chance of rainy night, I like many other people went to the movies to see “Cloverfield”.

Now I’m not gonna spoil anything I’ll just say that you should see it because the idea of the movie is genius. It’s about a group of like five people evacuating Manhattan when this monster thing attacks the city, but it is all filmmed by a camcorder (a sturdy one if I might add).

 

Oh and Hud is that DUDE!

The ending is questionable though but I was at the “edge of my seat” the whole movie.

A Sat day . . .

Cause all I did was sit and do nothing, but watch my Long Beach 49er’s get whooped on by Northridge in mens basketball:

Now we’re the second worst team in our divison after going to the NCAA tourny last year. But I mean c’mon we lost nine good players and we have a new coach. . . . Yeah I know the team just sucks, except maybe for Donovan Morris (#4) who had 25pts and was hitting them free throws.

Then I went to my wack ass job for 4 n a half hours afterwards going to In N Out and complained to myself how I’m just another broke college student.

NWA, The D.O.C…RBX? Believe it or not, all of these tri-letter artists were pioneers of West Coast hip-hop. AFter being harbored on the controversial Death Row Records, Long Beach native RBX sat down with URB.com to tell us why silence is meant to be broken.

How are you feeling about the release of your album right now?
I feel good about the release of the album – just to show a lot people [that] if nothing else I could do things on my own or with my partner and I don’t need a babysitter. And RBX is a brand of its own.

What’s the story behind the title Broken Silence?
Broken Silence is because I’ve been kinda dormant for awhile. I had done cameos for people but for me to do a whole project on my own, without strings attached, it had been a while. It was because I hadn’t had an album that had been heard in a while.

Did you make the album for yourself or for your fans?
The album is pretty much for the fans. A lot of cats was like “RBX we wanna hear you do your thing.” It’s like they would get teased cause they would always hear me on someone else’s project but would be like an eight bar or a 12 bar, or maybe I would just do an intro or a hook so cats was like “It’s kinda frustrating, . . .
